In the opener, Cody Price got the ball for Carp while Jamie Blakely countered for the Blitz.

The Blitz got off to a fast start, scoring runs in the first 4 innings. Marcel Mondoux led off the bottom of the first with an infield single and advanced to second when the throw to first went into the Carp dugout. After Price retired the next two batters on a ground out and a strikeout, Blitz catcher Tony Searle stroked a double to the gap that scored Mondoux to put the Blitz up 1-0.

The Blitz scored 2 in the second when Blakely walked, DP Shannon Borho singled, CF Derek Bergeron bunted them over, and then Mondoux cashed them in with a 2-out triple. They added another in the third when Searle hit a double and was brought in by LF Derek Martin's single.

Carp had men on base in the second and third innings, but didn't get a run across until the top of the fourth when Kevin McGuire hit a solo homerun to lead off the inning. Al Read followed that with a single, but Blakely ended the threat with a pair of strikeouts and a groundout.

The Blitz got that run back promptly when a leadoff single by Ryan Mitts scored on Derick Bulley's 2-out triple.

Carp rallied in the 5th when SS Curtis Scurr hit a leadoff double and 1B Eric Colvin knocked him home with a 1-out single. Kevin McGuire followed Colvin with a single of his own, but Blakely got the next batter to ground out to end the inning. Carp had runners in scoring position in the 6th and 7th, but a close call at 1st ended the 6th and a pair of ground ball outs with 2 runners on base ended the 7th for Carp, making the final score 5-2 Blitz.

Marcel Mondoux who was 3-4 with two singles and a triple, and a run scored was the player of the game and took Caveman's Choice honours in this one.
Carp I4C Victory 6 Barrhaven Broadway Blues 0
Game 2 started off much better for Carp. Neil Cooke toed the rubber for the Victory while Trevor Lahey had the ball for the Barrhaven Broadway Blues.

Shawn Simzer started the game off by hitting the first pitch he saw up the middle for a single. Carp 1B Eric Colvin followed that with a single of his own, and Carp #3 hitter Kevin McGuire hit a homerun to put Carp up 3-0 with no one out. Lahey then settled in and retired the next 3 batters in order with a pop up and a pair of strikeouts.

With both pitchers getting strikeouts and using their defence effectively, the score remained 3-0 Carp through 6 innings.

In the top of the 7th, Carp catcher Joe Murray started the inning with a single. Shawn Simzer then hit a fly ball to deep centre field that allowed Murray to tag up and advance to second. Carp 1B Eric Colvin then reached on an infield error, putting runners on the corners. With McGuire at bat and only one out, Barrhaven had a conference and contemplated walking him while Carp wondered if they should have Colvin steal second base and risk taking the bat out of the 2 for 2 McGuire's hands. Barrhaven elected to pitch to McGuire and Carp opted to keep Colvin on first and see if Barrhaven would pitch to McGuire. A few pitches later, McGuire hit his second homerun of the night off the tree beyond centre field to make the score 6-0.

Cooke shut down the Barrhaven hitters in the bottom of the 7th to preserve the shutout and earn the win for Carp.

Kevin McGuire had a monstrous night at the plate, going 3 for 3 with two three-run homers and double, plus an intentional walk to earn Caveman's Choice.
