Blitz / Barrhaven doubleheader on Wednesday - the details

Wednesday night saw Barrhaven matchup against the Blitz in a double header. 

 

Blitz 4 Barrhaven 4

In the first game Jason Smith took the ball for the Blues and Jamie Blakely was on the hill for the home team.

 

The Blitz scored first in the opening inning. Marcel Mondoux worked a lead-off walk and stole second.  Matt Bowman followed with a single.  Derick Bulley then walked to load the bases.  After a strikeout, Jon Ferguson took an RBI walk to cash Mondoux and continue the threat.  Two more K’s got Smith out of the jam.

 

Things stayed 1-0 until the third when Kevin Williams led off with a homerun.  After a couple of outs, Trevor Power legged out a triple just beating the tag and was brought home on a Tony McDonald single, putting Blues up 2-1.

 

The Blues added to their lead in the 6^th, Calvin Medynski reached on an error, followed by a sacrifice bunt and a walk to Trevor Lahey.  With two outs Williams struck again with a 2 RBI triple.  The inning was finished when SS Russ Mitchel got to a ground ball deep in the hole and gunned Williams out at home.

 

In the 7^th the Blitz rallied.  Bulley reached on a one out walk.  Searle hit into a fielder’s choice. Ferguson brought Searle home with an RBI single that got by the center fielder and Ferguson made it to third.  Derek Martin brought in Ferguson with a game-tying single.  Lahey was brought in to pitch and induced a ground out to end the game 4-4.

Blitz 3 Barrhaven 1 

In the second game, Lahey had the ball for the home team. Borho toed the rubber for the visitors.

 

After a scoreless first, the Blitz got on the board in the top of 2.  A pair of singles by Searle and Ferguson put men on the corners, followed by a walk to Martin.  Searle was forced at home for the first out.  Ferguson scored on a passed ball.

 

In the third the Blitz added to their lead.  Mondoux singled and stole second. Searle brought him home with a two-out single.

 

Blues got one back in the fifth. Steve Edgerton led off with a double. After a K and a passed ball, Jordan Adams hit a long fly ball to centerfield to score Edgy on the sacrifice.

 

The Blitz added one more in the seventh. Blakely doubled and was brought in on a miscue by the shortstop. After giving up a leadoff walk in the bottom of 7, a double play and a line-out sealed the 3-1 win for Borho.
