GOFL standings and playoff implications

Usually around now, I would put up a blog post with playoff possibilities. However, the standings are so tight this year, there are any number of match ups that could occur in the post season - so we will wait until after some games next week before trying that.

Next week, barring inclement weather, will be the final week of the regular season and final placings will be set. The league will take a week off (Aug 9-17) for the ISC World tournament since several key players are away. Upon their return, the playoffs will begin the week of August 18th.

For the playoffs, the first team gets a bye, while the remaining teams play a best-of-five series (2nd vs 7th, 3rd vs 6th, 4th vs 5th). Winners of the series, along with the bye team, advance to the Final Weekend Showdown four team double elimination tournament on September 12/13 in Stittsville for the GOFL playoff title.

Current standings after Week 12 (W-L-T)
1. Quyon Flyers 10-6-1 = 21 pts  (1 game remaining vs Stittsville)
2. Stittsville 56ers 7-5-4 = 18 pts (2 games remaining vs Quyon & Micksburg)
3. Kanata Pirates 8-7-1 = 17 pts (2 games remaining vs Kars & I4C)
T4. Micksburg Twins 7-8-1 = 15 pts (2 games remaining vs Kars & Stittsville)
T4. West Carleton Electric 7-8-1 = 15 pts (2 games remaining vs I4C x 2)
6. Kars Aces 7-9-0 = 14 pts (2 games remaining vs Micksburg & Kanata)
7. I4C Victory 6-9-0 = 12 pts (3 games remaining vs WCElectric x2 & Kanata)
