Twins over As 7-1

from Paul Griffith

On Thursday night the Valley A's made their first trip up to Micksburg to take on the Twins in front of a good crowd.

The Twins sent Joran Graham to the hill as the As countered with Adam Rueckwald.

The home side got things going in the home half of the first by sending nine batters to the plate. Lead off batter drew a walk, followed by a Kyle Jackson single advancing the runner to third. After the next batter walked Jamey Mick came to the plate and singled home both runners. Chad Costello then hit a 3-run shot to left center giving the home side a 5-0 lead.

The A's got on the board in the second as lead off batter Ryley Burns hit a single then advancing to second on a passed ball and third on a ground out. Then the A's scored the runner via single cutting the Twins lead to 5-1. Both pitchers then settled through the next three innings as both teams were held off the scoreboard.

The Twins added to their lead in the fifth as their first two batters reached via error and walk bringing hot swinging Mick to the plate who hit a line drive to the fence scoring Jackson from second. With one out Andrew Mcyntyre hit a through the right side scoring another Twins runner. With the 7-1 lead Graham was able to retire the side in the remaining two innings giving the home side the win.
