Stittsville doubles WC Electric 10-5 - WITH DETAILS

Stittsville 56ers beat West Carleton Electric 10-5 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in Fitzroy on Monday night.

In what was a rain out make up game, there was a rain delay, but the game was completed with all seven being played.

Darren Featherstone took the complete game win, while Andy Barber got the loss with Steve Cavanagh throwing 5 2/3 in relief.

The 56ers scored three runs on two two home runs in the first. Dan Jessiman hit a two run shot that scored Tyler Nystedt who had walked. Scott Jessiman hit a solo shot later in the inning.

Stittsville added on another four runs in the second. The 56ers loaded the bases on two walks and a bunt single. A timely unassisted double play to third base (tag, touch third) looked like it might help get the Trics out of the inning. However, Featherstone tripled to score two, followed by Scott Jessiman's second homer of the night to make it 7-0 after an inning and a half.

West Carleton got on the board in the fourth. Jeff Cavanagh reached on an error, then scored on Jeff Barber's home run. Later in the inning, Dave Bahm hit a solo shot to make it 7-3.

Ryan Bond drove in Kyle Olsen, who had reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth to put the 56ers up by five runs.

The Trics had an opportunity in the sixth, loading the bases with none out on three consecutive singles. But Feathers got out of the jam with a ground out which erased the run at home, a strike out and a fly out.

The visitors got another two runs in the top of seven. Adam Smith singled and scored when Olsen's single was misplayed in the outfield. Olsen later scored when a throw attempting to catch him stealing third was offline.

Trailing 10-3 going into the final frame the Electric got two back on Shawn Rebertz home run with Jeff Barber on base who had tripled. But that was all the scoring and the 56ers held on for the 10-5 win.
