Quyon beats WC to advance (details from Thursday)

The Quyon Flyers eliminated West Carleton Electric in Greater Ottawa Fastball League Championship Round play with a 9-4 win on Thursday night on the Quebec side.

Matt Greer had the complete game win, while Andy Barber took the loss with relief from Jeff Barber.

West Carleton Electric got out to a 3-0 lead in the second. Chris Costello hit a three run homer with Mike Cavanagh (single) and Steve Cavanagh (walk) on base.

The Flyers got two back in the third inning, with Shawn Laframboise and Matt Greer scoring.

The big difference in the game were the six runs put up by the Flyers in the fourth. Dave Hobbs lead off the inning with a solo shot. The Flyers then loaded the bases on three walks prompting a pitching change by Fitzroy, replacing starter Andy Barber with his brother Jeff. The next batter walked, bringing in a run. followed by a Drew Hathway grand slam to make the score 8-3.

Trevor Barton's solo home run in the sixth made it 8-4, but the Flyers responded immediately in the bottom of the inning after Joe McCleary doubled and was brought in by Steve McCord.
