GOFL playoff positions now set

With the result from the make up games on Wednesday, the final positions in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League standings are now set. Playoffs start after Labour Day, with exact dates and times to be determined. Watch the blog for details as they finalized.

1. Quyon Flyers 12-3-4 = 26 pts
2. Kars Aces 10-5-4 = 24 pts
3. West Carleton Electric 10-6-3 = 23 pts
4. I4C Victory 6-9-4 = 16 pts
5. Ottawa Valley As 7-12 = 14 pts (tiebreaker, based on wins)
6. Micksburg Twins 6-11-2 = 14 pts
7. Stittsville 56ers 5-11-3 = 13 pts

Quyon Flyers earn the bye to the final four. Quyon has never won the league playoff title, but were finalists for four consecutive years from 2009 to 2012.

The match ups for the best-of-three first round are as follows:

Kars Aces vs Stittsville 56ers
These two teams matched up in the regular season, with Kars winning two games 4-1 and 5-3 and Stittsville winning one game 5-4. The Aces franchise has won the playoff title eight times, with the last one in 2012, which was the third of three in a row. The 56ers last playoff titles were back in 2008 and 2009.

West Carleton Electric vs Micksburg Twins
This a re-match of last year's finals. In the regular season, every game was shortened by the run rule - two in favour of Micksburg (11-1 and 7-0) and one for WC (15-0). Micksburg are defending playoff champions and have won the title twice. West Carleton has been in the finals three times but never won the title.

I4C Victory vs Ottawa Valley As
The regular season games between these two teams were all close. I4C won 8-5 early in the year, then Valley took the next two match ups 8-7 and 4-3. I4C won the playoff crown in 2014 and 2015. This is Valley's fourth season in the GOFL and they have yet to make the finals.
