Shawville League playoff final set: Brewers vs Twins
info from Shawn Laframboise
The Shawville Men's Fastball League has one game left in the playoffs, with the Brewers and Twins facing off for the title on Friday at 8 pm. The Brewers defeated the Bucks in a dramatic 9-8 semi-final win on Tuesday night.
The Brewers took the lead 5-2 in the fifth with a two run homer by their pitcher Trevor Lahey. The Bucks batted around in the sixth and put six runs across to take a 8-5 lead.
The Bucks maintained their three run lead going into the bottom of the seventh. Mike Baker walked, followed by a Derek McColgan hit by pitch to put two on and none out. Bucks' thrower Lenny Burger got a pop out and ground out to the three and four hitters to make things look good for them. Jason Trudeau then hit a hard double to the gap in left-centre to make it 8-7. Jordan Kearns then hit a high pop up to shallow left-centre that just eluded the short stop and score the tying urn. Brent Jackson knocked in the winner with a line drive to the left-centre gab and put the Brewers on to Friday's final against the Twins.
