Shawville league Thursday night results, Saturday final day set

The Shawville Men's Fastpitch League playoffs continued on Thursday night with two games at the R.A. Centre.

The first match of the night was the "winner - winner" game of the double elim playoffs, with the Brewers facing the Twins. The Brewers got out to an early 7-0 lead in the first and went on to a 9-0 run rule shortened victory. Joran Graham earned the win while Adam Rueckwald took the loss. The Brewers advance directly to the League final.

The nightcap saw the "loser - loser" game with the Bucks edging the Athletics 4-2'. The Athletics were eliminated from the playoffs and the Bucks face the Twins at 3 pm on Saturday to see which team moves on the Final at 6 pm that night. Gregg Garrity was the winning pitcher while Matt Greer threw well in a losing effort.

The As got off to a 2-0 lead on a Greer RBI in the first and a later run scored by Greer on an error.

The Bucks halved the lead by captain Jared Murray solo shot to left field in the fifth.

The Bucks then scored three in top of what could be referred to as an event-filled seventh inning. The first run was on a bases loaded sacrifice fly RBI by Kaelan Ireland and a subsequent misplayed fly ball with two out gave them a 4-2 lead, which the Bucks kept despite the Athletics threatening in the bottom of the frame.
