Brewers advance to GOFL semi-final (with some stats)

Info from Paul Griffith, Erin Durant and Ryan Clare

The Manotick Brewers advanced to the Greater Ottawa Fastball League playoff semi-final with a 5-2 win over the Kars Aces in Manotick on Tuesday night.

Luc D'Entremont was the winning pitcher while Cory Alkerton took the loss.

Kars put up two runs in the bottom of the second. Brad Pender hit a ball that was misplayed, driving in Aces who reached base on an error and walk.

Manotick tied the game in the top of the fifth. Tyler Alexander hit an RBI double, and after D'Entremont was called safe on a close play at first, that allowed Alexander to score from third which he had reached on a passed ball.

In the seventh, Manotick scored three to take the lead. D'Entremont walked, Ryan Clare singled, and Chris MacFarlane smashed a three-run homer.

When Kars was unable to respond in the bottom of the seventh, the Brewers sealed the win to advance to the semi-final game against the Orleans Rebels at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday night (October 6) at Pierre Rocque Park in Orleans.
