Aces double Electric (from Wednesday)

The Kars Aces scored four in the sixth to come back and defeat West Carleton Electric 6-3 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play on Wednesday night in Manotick.

Nick Ellis had the win for the Aces while Gabe Brown took the loss.

West Carleton scored in the top of the first when Conner Hopper singled, was moved to second on a Neil  Murphy sacrifice bunt and plated on Hugh Murray's RBI single. Two subsequent walks loaded the bases but Ellis got out of the jam.

The Electric made it 2-0 in the top of the second inning. With two out, Ellis walked Hopper, Murphy, Jeff Cavanagh and Murray in a row. Once again, however, with the bases loaded, Ellis got out with minimal damage.

The Aces got their first run in the bottom of the third. With one out, Dylan Toms singled, then scored on Ellis' RBI very deep double to right-centre field.

Kars tied the game at two in the fifth. Toms singled and scored on an Ellis triple to the left field corner.

WC took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth. Brown's pop up deep to short dropped in, and Hopper tripled to cash him.

The lead was shortlived though as the Aces put up four in the bottom of the sixth to take their first lead of the game. Jordan Shipclark hit a solo homer to lead off the frame. Then with one out, Matt Alkerton doubled. Cory Morrison walked to put two on, and Alkerton scored on Chad Milne's single. A pop up got a second out, but Ellis walked to load the bases. Kristian Knapp then scorched a liner off the first baseman's shin, which drove in Milne. A bases loaded walk to Brad Pender scored another, before the inning was over.

The Electric once again loaded the bases in the seventh. Murphy singled to start things off, and moved to second when Jeff Cavanagh walked. After a pop up, Steve Cavanagh's single loaded the bases. The next batter hit a hard ball to first that resulted in a 3-2 double play to end the game.
