Read family honoured at the Carp Shootout
There was a special presentation at the Carp Shootout on Saturday afternoon as the committee honoured the Read family and all their dedication to fastball over the years, when they worked so hard on 11 editions of the Gil Read Memorial men's fastpitch tournament.
We also recognized the induction of Team Ontario 2001 into the Ontario Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame - a team that Gil Read coached to a perfect record and gold medal at the Canada Games, along with many other accomplishments.
Gil Read was a coach of much renown and a great guy. He died in 2007 but is missed to this day by many in the Ottawa area, the province of Ontario, in Canada and beyond for his dedication to softball. His bio is here: https://gilreadmemorial.com/about-gil.html
Accepting the Hall of Fame plaque is Gil's son, Chris Read, presented by some random guy from the audience.
