West Carleton beats Osgoode
West Carleton Electric won 3-0 on Thursday night in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play at home in Fitzroy Harbour over the Osgoode Chiefs.
Adam Rueckwald had the shutout win, allowing only four hits. Matt McKay took the loss throwing well for the Chiefs.
All of the game's runs were scored in the bottom of the first. Trevor Barton lead off with a double. A misplayed ball put Chris Costello on base, then Conner Hopper ripped a triple to left field to cash two. Hopper scored on Ben Broek's single, with none out. McKay got out of the jam and never let in another run.
Osgoode had their best scoring chance in the fifth. Austin McCord lead off with a double. After a strike out, Bobby Holmes hit one deep to the hole between second and third but a great defensive play by Hopper at shortstop saved a hit and threw the batter out. A strikeout ended the threat.
