Kars wins in 10 innings over Micksburg in Game 1

The Kars Aces won the first game of their best of three playoff semi-final series in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League on the road against the Micksburg Twins by a score of 4-2 in ten innings on Wednesday night. Despite the three extra innings, the game only took about two hours to complete.

Cory Alkerton was the winning pitcher while Joran Graham took the loss.

The Twins took the lead in the second inning on a two run homer by Quinton Rook.

In the top of the sixth, Kristian Knapp walked then scored on a Cory Alkerton misplayed fly ball.

The Aces tied the game in the top of the seventh when Cory Morrison walked in a pinch hit situation and scored after Chad Milne's single was subsequently misplayed by an outfielder.

After two scoreless extra innings, Kars put up two in the tenth. Milne walked, Brad Pender was hit by a pitch to load the bases (as there was a runner on second to start the inning via the international tie breaker rule). A Knapp single scored two.

In the bottom the tenth, Micksburg got two runners on with the international rule runner and a Matt McIntyre walk. After a strikeout, a liner to the second baseman was caught, and he touched second base for the double play to end the game (then threw to first, which would have been a triple play if there was not already an out).

Game two of the series will be played Tuesday September 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Manotick Arena diamond.
