Stompers finish pool play 5-1

The Niagara Stompers split their pool play games on Friday to finish 5-1 at the Men's Canadian Championship in Surrey, BC, second place in their pool.

They opened the day with a 12-0 win over the Steveston, BC Canadians.  Jorah Graham had the pitching win, allowing only one hit and striking out seven over three innings. Graham also went 2-4 at the plate with a grand slam. Brad Pender went 3-3 with a walk and scored two runs. Matt Greer was 2-3 with two RBIs.

The final game of pool play saw the defending champions Galway Hitmen from Newfoundland and Labrador beat the Stompers 11-0. Graham had the lone hit for Niagara.

With the second place finish, the Stompers get a "double life" in the playoff round. They kick things off Saturday with a game against the Toronto Batmen at 2 p.m. EST.
