Los Caballos win GOFL debut
Los Caballos, an affiliate team of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League, won their first game over West Carleton Electric 7-4 in Fitzroy Harbour on Tuesday night.
Los Caballos are playing all seven full time member clubs once and the games count in the standings.
Matt McKay earned the win while Ben Broek took the loss with relief from Adam Rueckwald.
The visitors got out to a 4-0 lead in the third. Wilmer Lovera, Pedro Lopez, Fredryon Carpio, Elvin Gómez and Yefri Castillo all had consecutive hits.
Los Caballos added two more in the top of the fourth on a two run hoker by Lovera.
WC responded with two in the bottom of four. Dylan Rorwick hit a solo shot to left that was very close to rolling up to the base of the neighboring house. Conner Hopper single and eventually scored on Sean Lecuyer's sacrifice fly.
Los Caballos got another run in the sixth on a solo homer by Felipe Morales.
The Electric responded with two in the sixth. Rueckwald and Chris Trafford had RBIs.
In the bottom of the seventh, WC threatened. Chris Costello lead off with a single. Rorwick looked like he had his second homer of the night but an incredible catch by Miguel Castro over top of the left field fence saved the runs. McKay got the next two outs on fly outs to earn the win.
