Wiarton lone ON team at U23 Men's Canadian Championship remaining

After two games in the playoff round at the U23 Men's Canadian Championship in Kitchener, the Wiarton Red Devils are the only Ontario team remaining.

Wiarton defeated Harwood Corners of Ontario 5-4 in 8 innings in the first game of Playoff Saturday. Afterwards, the two-time defending champion Tavistock, ON Merchants lost a 1-0 squeaker to the Nova Scotia Selects.

Shallow Lake was the fourth Ontario entrant but did not qualify for Saturday.

Wiarton will play Nova Scotia at 8:15 p.m. The winner of that game plays on Sunday at 11 a.m. and is guaranteed a medal.

Currently the Murno Mariners of Newfoundland and Labrador are playing Delisle Pride of Saskatchewan in the first vs second game. The winner advances directly to the gold medal game at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The loser plays at 11 a.m.
