Micksburg over Manotick in game two - details

Report from Paully Griffith

On another nice night for ball on Wednesday the Micksburg Twins travelled to Manotick for game two of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League playoff best of three semi-finals vs the Brewers. In a re-match of game one, pitchers were Joran Graham vs Carley Shane.

The Twins got on the board early as Andy McIntyre led off with an inside the park homerun to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Both pitchers settled in as the score remained 1-0 until the fifth.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Brewers got a single by Riley Dunbar who then advanced to second base but Graham was able to strike out the next two batters to keep it 1-0.

In the fifth inning the Twins added to their lead. With one out, Andy McIntyre hit a single followed by a Joran Graham walk. This brought up Jared Steege who hit a towering 3-run shot to right field to increase the Twins lead to 4-0. The next batter up Matt McIntyre then hit a solo home run to left to go back-to-back to give the Twins a 5-0 lead.

Graham settled back in by striking out the side in the fifth inning. Micksburg added a run in the sixth as Andy McIntyre singled, scoring Quinton Rook who reached on a single to make it 6-0.

The Twins added two more in the seventh as Steege led off with a triple and scored on a Matt McIntyre double, who then advanced to third on a Joe Mick single and scored on a Scott Conroy single.

Graham was able to strike out the side in the seventh finishing the game with 20k and allowing only one hit as Micksburg advances to the GOFL finals with an 8-0 win.
