GOFL playoffs approaching

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League spring meeting determined that playoffs would start in early August - and the league appears to be on target to make that happen.

The current standings are tight at the top and bottom, and only one placement is solidified.

For games through July 23, 2025

Teams finishing first and second get a bye into the playoff semi-finals. Those two teams will be Micksburg Twins and the Kars Aces. The Thursday July 24 game (Aces at Twins, up in the 'Burg at 8 p.m.) will go a long way to determining who finishes where at the top of the table. The Aces will be done after Thursday while the Twins have make-up games against Los Caballos (July 31 in Carp) and Quyon Flyers (tentatively August 5).

For the bottom four teams, third will play sixth and fourth will play fifth in a best-of-three quarter-final first round series.

In the middle of the pack is West Carleton Electric. They can finish no worse than .500 and will finish in third place no matter what happens. WC have one more game remaining vs Quyon Flyers as part of a doubleheader in Shawville on July 24.

Fourth through sixth is all up for grabs between Manotick Brewers, Los Caballos and Quyon Flyers. The Brewers once again are the first GOFL team to finish their season. Los Caballos have games remaining vs Quyon (July 24) and Micksburg (July 31). The Flyers have three remaining (WC, Los Caballos, Twins).

The semi-final playoff series will feature the top seeded winner of the first round playing the second place team, and the other first round winner playing the top seed, both in best-of-three series.

The two remaining teams will play in a best-of-three final.

Once playoff games are finalized, they will be posted on this blog and on the league website. For the GOFL website visit here.
