Plattsville wins U20 Eliminations
The Plattsville Lightning won the Ontario Amateur Softball Association U20 Elimination tournament in Chepstow on the weekend with four straight wins over Southeastern Ontario, Stone Mills and Chatsworth (twice).
The Lightning outscored their opponents 35 to 5, and their catcher Matt Van de Wynckel was named tournament Most Valuable Player. Joe Weiler of Chatsworth was named Top Pitcher.
Plattsville won the U20 Canadian Championship in Carp last year and already had a berth to this year's event in Saskatoon as defending champions.
Chatsworth, St. George (third place) and Fingal (fourth) earned berths to the nationals.
West Carleton Electric finished with two wins and two losses, tied for fifth.
