WC U20 finishes 5th at Elims (updated)
West Carleton Electric finished fifth at the Ontario Amateur Softball Association U20 Eliminations in Chepstow with a two win and two loss record.
After a close eight inning 3-2 loss Friday night to Chatsworth, the Electric beat Southeastern Ontario Screaming Eagles 3-2 on Saturday morning. Kaden Fowler had the win for WC allowing only five hits and striking out 10. Dan Read of Stittsville threw well for the Eagles. Finn Barton was 2 for 4 with an inside the park homer for the Electric and Conner Hopper had a triple, scoring on a miscue on the relay.
Next up was another win just a few hours later, this time over the Hillsdale Haymakers 8-6. Gabe Brown had the win allowing six hits and striking out 10. He was also 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI. Colton Lecuyer was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Dawson Pennock hit a bases loaded triple for WC. Isaac Jesseau took the loss for Hillsdale.
Following that was a game against Fingal Storm on Saturday evening where the winner would advance to the top four on Sunday and secure a berth to the U20 Canadian Championship in Saskatoon. WC lost 3-1 as Zach Winkworth threw a three hitter for the Storm. Rivor Taylor was 3 for 3 with two RBIs for Fingal. Kaden Fowler took the loss allowing only six hits and striking out six. Fowler had the lone RBI for West Carleton, driving in Alex Strathern who had singled.
West Carleton will now prepare for the Provincial tournament in Grafton on July 18-20.
