Three local athletes medal at U20 Men's Canadians

The Chatsworth Longhorns were recognized as gold medalists at the Softball Canada U20 Men's Canadian Championship on Sunday in Saskatoon, SK.

The Longhorns, who recently won the Ontario U20 Men's Provincial championship tournament, defeated the Plattsville, ON Lightning in the final by a score of 6-4. Plattsville was undefeated in the tournament until the final. Joe Weiler was the winning pitcher while Sean Demarest and Cohen Christner pitched for the Lightning. 

Chatsworth defeated Équipe Québec in the semi-final game 4-2, awarding the Quebeckers bronze. Weiler and Dakota McComb pitched for the Longhorns and Jérémy Bréton pitched for Team Quebec.

Conner Hopper of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League's West Carleton Electric was a pickup player for Plattsville and earned a silver medal. Cade Kuehl and Hunter Beauregard of the GOFL's Quyon Flyers were on Équipe Québec and earned bronze. All three players will be representing their province at the upcoming Canada Games later this month. 

Colton Lecuyer, also of WC Electric, was at the event as a pickup player for the fourth place St. George Aces.
