Osgoode Men's Fastball League playoff tournament
The Osgoode Men's Fastball League playoff tournament was played this weekend at the Kars diamond.
In the first game, the #1 seed Metcalfe Clinical were upset by #4 seed B&T MacFarlane by a score of 8-3. B&T got on the board early with a two run shot from Austin Blanchard. The game remained 3-0 until the sixth when B&T plated five highlighted by a moonshot home run by Evan Davis. Metcalfe got a few back, but fell short losing 8-3. Austin Blanchard had the win, Nick Bowman took the loss.
In the #2vs #3 semi-final, the shorthanded Peterson Haulage defeated Dewan Painting by a score of 10-7. Dewan Painting made a late charge, but ultimately were shut down by Zach Branchaud who got the complete game win. Nolan Holmes took the loss with relief from Tyler Alexander.
In the final, following two upsets in the semis, Peterson Haulage ran out of gas being short on arms and found themselves quickly down by 14 in the third inning. Peterson got some back, but ultimately fell short losing 14-4 in the final, giving B&T MacFarlane, captained by Trevor Beaulieu, the championship after going 3-9 during the regular season. Austin Blanchard earned the win with relief from Trevor Beaulieu. Zach Branchaud took the loss with relief from Tyler Boyd.
The Osgoode Men’s Fastball League is likely expanding to six teams next season for their third season with interest expressed from many others.
