Junior Batmen win U23 Canadians
The Rostock Toronto Junior Batmen won the Softball Canada Men’s U23 Canadian Championship on Friday, defeating Tavistock Merchants 3-2. Connor Brooks hit two solo home runs in the final for Tavistock and was named the Playoff Round Most Valuable Player.
The Batmen had previously beaten Tavistock in the first vs second game by a score of 6-5 to advance directly to the final.
Tyler Branchaud (GOFL - Manotick Brewers) won gold as part of the Batmen team.
Jack Becker (GOFL - Manotick Brewers) plays for Tavistock and won silver. Becker's performance in pool play earned him an award as an All-Star Infielder. Joe Mick (GOFL - Micksburg Twins) who played Provincials with West Carleton Electric U23 was picked up by Tavistock for the event and also won silver.
Tavistock beat the New Hamburg Mustangs 6-2 in the semi-final game. Conner Hopper (GOFL - West Carleton Electric) was a pick up by New Hamburg from WC U23 for the event and won a bronze medal.
