Don't forget Ball-a-rama Sunday August 27 in Chapeau, QC

Get yourself to Ball-a-rama this Sunday - it's going to be a good event!

Chapeau will be the place to be for fastball fans on Sunday August 27 as the Upper Pontiac town hosts "Ball-a-rama 2006". This event, which was also held in 2005, is being organized by Lenny Burger, the toe-tapping lefty who happens to reside near"Hat".

Fitzroy Harbour, Micksburg Twins and Ottawa Team Easton all qualified for the 2006 ISC World Fastball Tournament August 12-19 in Kitchener, Ontario.

Quyon Junior Flyers qualified for the 2006 Junior Canadians August 7-14 in St-Leonard, Quebec and Joran Graham, pitcher for the Valley Midget Allstars, will be attending the Midget Nationals August 7-14 in Saskatchewan.

Great idea. I hope it gets lots of advertising.

After participating in a few great local tourneys this year, I'd offer two pieces of positive advice/comments:

1. We need to make a better effort to advertise. There are a lot of former players/fans who are unaware about the present fastball scene.

2. We need to bring minor ball into these tournaments. Offer free entry, let them wear oversized jerseys and be bat boys/girls, help with warm-up, etc.

There's been a lot of hard work put into this year's tourneys and there's many people who deserve congratulations--'Trics/56'ers, Quyon, Blitz, Manotick. Nevertheless, the high-quality of ball deserved/deserves more fan support to help grow the game.
