from Jeff Langford - I was a little behind in emails, sorry
Congratulations to Matt Bowman of the Orleans Rebels, who was chosen to the Midget Nationals Tournament All-Star at the catcher position. He was the only All-Star team representative from Ontario. Matt had a great week offensively (13/24, .541 Average, 6 home runs) and played well defensively.
The Napanee Express beat the Calgary Rockies in the tie-breaker game to get the 8th playoff spot. The playoff round started on Friday night with seeds 1 through 4 squaring off. The number 1 seed, Scarborough Royals, lost to the Leduc (Alberta) Landmark 747s by a score of 4-3. Saskatchewan FSIN defeated Port Alberni by a score of 4-0. The top 4 seeds must lose twice to be eliminated. Teams ranked 5 through 8 are eliminated with the first lost on Saturday. On Saturday, Orleans plays the host team Prince Albert Aallcann Astros and Napanee plays the Sooke (BC) Royals.
