Team Easton 6 Manotick 1 - UPDATED

Team Easton defeated Manotick by a score of 6-1 in the early game in Manotick on Wednesday night. In a game that was actually closer than the score may indicate, the home team left 8 runners on base.

Dan Konkle had the win, giving up 4 hits and struck out 12. Shannon Borho took the complete game loss for Manotick giving up 12 hits, 3 walks, while striking out 2.

Team Easton got 2 runs in the each of the 1st, 4th and 7th innings, all earned except one in the first due to a "miscue" in the outfield by a certain T. Riches (probably still in shock over the recent theft of his car).

Easton started the scoring in the top of the first. After a Dave Tubman strikeout, Kevin Chevrier was hit by a pitch then Cory Morrison hit a ball to right field which Tony Riches turned into a circus leaving runners at 2nd & 3rd. Randy Peck then singled cashing both Chevrier and Morrison.

Manotick cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second when Riches doubled to right field scoring the speedy Rich Antunes (who had previously walked) all the way from 1st base.

Easton was back at it in the top of the 3rd as Tubman walked then Chevrier singled putting runners at first and second. Morrison then hit into a force play putting runners at the corners with 1 out. Manotick looked like they might get out of the inning unscathed after Morrison got caught stealing second but a walk to Randy Peck followed by a rbi single by John Peck another walk to Dan Konkle and an rbi single by Chad Milne allowed Easton to take 4-1 lead.

The score stayed that way until the top of 7th when with 1 out Morrison singled then Randy Peck walked, after a wild pitch by Shannon Borho advanced the runners, John Peck singled scoring both and putting Easton up 6-1.
