WC Electric 3 Manotick 1

In the second game of the evening, the Printers fell to West Carleton Electric 3-1. Bud Hanlon had the complete game win for Fitzroy, while Shannon Borho threw seven for Manotick.

Jon Daley led off the game with an inside the park home run deep to the left field corner to put WC up 1-0.

WC scored a second run in the second inning. Beef Johnson reached on an misplayed pop up, put was put out at second on a fielder's choice hit by Neil Murphy. Trevor Barton then walked. After a strikeout, Steve Cavanagh then walked to load the bases. Jon Daley then walked as well for his second RBI of the game.

In the fifth, Todd Clouthier drew a one-out walk, when moved to third on a Troy Wilson single. Wilson used his blazing speed to steal second. Clean up many Shawn Rebertz then walked to load the bases once again. Steve Johnson then hit into a fielder's choice to get an RBI and put the 'Trics ahead 3-0.

Trying not to remember a collapse against Orleans the week before, WC went into the bottom of the seventh the three run lead. The wheels loosened, but didn't fall off. Lindsay Medynski led off with a single to left, that was misplayed allowing him to get to second. Steve Edgerton then hit a ground ball that was cleanly fielded but overthrown at first. This overthrow allowed Medynski to score with none out. After Rich Antunes hit into a fielders' choice, Jon Daley made a nice catch in centre on a hard hit Joe Allan drive, and Shawn Rebertz made a nice play at third on a sharply hit Adam Bickell ground ball to end the game and preserve the win.

Big Bud the Spud Hanlon threw very well over seven complete, allowing one unearned run, scattering six hits, walking one and striking out 11. Shannon Borho also threw well over seven complete, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, walking six and striking out seven.
