The Stittsville 56ers defeated Team Easton in the second game of a twin bill played in Fitzroy Harbour Sunday afternoon as part of the annual "Harbour Days" festivities. Dan Bradley toed the rubber for the complete game victory surrendering 3 earned runs on 7 hits, walking 2 and striking out 4. Dan Konkle gets tagged with the loss, allowing 6 runs (5 earned), on 9 hits, striking out 7, while walking 1 and hitting one batsman.
Easton took a one run lead in the top of the first. Chad Milne lead off the game with a double to left field, advanced to third on a Kevin Chevrier single and scored on a ground ball off the bat of Randy Peck.
Stittsville responded in the bottom half of the first with 5 runs. With one out in the inning, the 56ers banged out 5 consecutive hits (John Craig, Dan Jessiman, Darren Featherstone, Sam Oliver, and Dan Bradley), which combined with a Dan Konkle wild pitch that left the field of play
and a Darren Ladouceur sac fly accounted for the 5 runs.
Easton would threaten in the third. Randy Peck walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a hot shot off the bat of Dan Konkle that was misplayed by the 56er third baseman. With one out, Pat O'Connor singled to centerfield where Dan Jessiman fielded the ball cleanly and fired a laser beam to home to cut down Peck who was trying to score from second. Bradley was able to induce a ground ball out from Scott Marion to escape the jam without surrendering a run.
The 56ers would score another run in the 4th when second baseman Todd Sleigh reached on an error, advanced to second on a Scott Herriot ground ball, and scored on John Craig's 3rd hit of the ball game.
Easton responded in the top half of the 5th inning. Back to back singles from Lukas Kamps and Milne started the inning. Kamps would score on a ground ball off the bat of Chevrier, and Milne would score on a Randy Peck single, completing the scoring for the ball game.
John Craig was the leader offensively for Stittsville going 3 for 4 with 2 singles, a double, 1 Run scored and an RBI. For Easton Chad Milne lead the way going 2 for 4 with a single, a double, and two runs scored.
