Quyon vs. Easton - Moe's version
From Shawn Laframboise
Easton 6 Flyers 6
Team Easton and the Quyon Flyers played out to a 6-all tie in a shortened, six inning game last night. The lengthy affair came to a halt after 6 so everybody could catch the last boat ride across the river. Dan Konkle and Matt Greer both went the distance for their respective clubs. In the six innings, Konkle gave up 9 hits, struck out 7, and walked 4. Greer gave up 8 hits, striking out 4, and walking 5 batters.
After retiring the first two batters in the first inning, Todd Fraser knocked a two-out offering over the lights in left field to give Easton a 1-0 lead. After a Chad Milne single in the second, he was advanced to second by Lukas Kamps. He later scored from second on a Konkle single to center, with the centerfielder Dennis McCleary's throw coming in way off line.
In the bottom of the 3rd the Quyon bats came alive with Shawn Laframboise starting things off with a double to the gap in left-center. Joe McCleary, fresh off eating his traditional Tuesday night macaroni supper, hit a towering fly ball to deep left-center that just managed to escape the friendly confines of the Quyon ball field for his league leading fourth homerun of the year.
After walking the bases loaded in the top of the fourth. Greer surrendered a single to centerfield off the bat of Cory Morrison, scoring Dave Tubman. Attempting to score was Fraser but the centerfielder, redeeming himself, had the gun sighted in this time.
Quyon answered back in the bottom half of the inning, with four runs of their own off some hot bats.
Scott Marion finished off Easton's balanced attack with a two-run no-doubter to left, leaving it at a 6-6 score. The sixth inning was the shortest of the game, being the only one with no runs scored. The game was ended after 6 because of the ferry.
