Orleans and WC Electric game halted due to rain
West Carleton Electric visited the Orleans Gators on Thursday night for a game that was halted after two and a half innings with the Electric up 2-0. The GOFL regular season guidelines are such that we go back to the last complete inning, and at the time the score was tied at 0, so the game will go in the books accordingly.
Chad Hargrove pitched three innings for the Gators, giving up 2 runs, striking out 8, allowing 1 hit and walking 2. Bud Hanlon got the ball for Fitzroy and threw two innings plus one batter in the third, striking out 7 and walking 3.
Trevor Barton led off the game for Fitzroy with a single to left, then stole second. However, Hargrove then struck out the next six straight batters he faced.
The WC Electric runs were scored in the top of third. Jason Cope walked, was moved to second on a sac bunt by Adam Brown. Barton then walked, and Cope took third on the wild pitch ball four. Barton then stole second and Cope scored on an overthrow, while Barton moved to third. Barton subsequently scored on another wild pitch.
In the bottom of the third with one out, the rain was falling too heavily to continue and the game was called off.
