WC Electric at Smiths Falls
West Carleton Electric participated in a "reunion" game on Sunday, playing against the Smiths Falls Junior Redmen and coming out with a 8-3 win on a smokin' hot afternoon during the North Leeds League showcase day.
WC Electric has six regulars on their roster that played for the Redmen back in the day: Mike Cavanagh, Shawn Rebertz, Neil Murphy, Brad Porter, Trevor Barton and Troy Wilson. Barton and Wilson were unable to attend Sunday's game due to work committments, but Ryan Marcellus, another former Redmen, was brought of our retirement to play for the Electric.
Brad Porter had the win for West Carleton, allowing one run on four hits over five innings. Steve Cavanagh saw two innings of work, allowing two runs on three hits. Chris Hall took the loss, working all seven innning for Smiths Falls.
Shawn Rebertz and Mike Cavanagh both had two RBIs for the "old timers" while Adam Brown, Jon Daley, Steve Cavanagh and Neil Murphy also had single RBIs.
The former Juniors donned the old Redmen jerseys for the final two innings - some fit better than others. A group picture was taken following the game.
The Smiths Falls Juniors will host the OASA Junior B provincial tournament this August.
