GOFL standings and playoff picture

The close standings in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League will make for an interesting finish. As of right now only two positions of nine are for sure:

See updated standings at www.GOFL.ca

- Easton is a good bet for first. Only Quyon has a chance to catch them. In order for Quyon to finish first, the Flyers have to beat Easton by two runs or more, and then beat Orleans; then Easton has to lose their game to the Gators. Otherwise, Easton gets the #1 seed.

- Quyon and Stittsville can both finish no lower than third. The 56ers are back by a point, but Stittsville can still slip by Quyon into second depending on next week's games.

- Fitzroy and Carp are stuck where they are. Fitzroy will finish in fourth, and Carp will finish in fifth. The 'Trics will meet I4C in the first round of the playoffs. Fitzroy's season is done, but Carp's game next week has implications for the Blitz.

- Manotick is in sixth and can't get higher. They could conceivably fall to eighth if Orleans and the Blitz crank out some wins next week.

- Greely's season is done. They are in seventh but theoretically could fall as low as ninth if Orleans and the Blitzos run the table next week. However, if the Blitz and Greely stay tied at 11 points, the Blitz get eighth since Greely has more wins.

- Depending on how the Blitz do next week and how Manotick and Orleans fare, they could finish as high as sixth or seventh, stay in eighth or even slip to ninth.

- And finally, Orleans is in in ninth, but could finish as high as sixth if they win all three of their make up games.

So those games in Week 14 mean quite a bit for seedings in the first round of the playoffs.

Just a reminder, the playoffs work as follows:

Series A: Play in game 9th at 8th - one game

1/4 finals (best of three):

Series B: 1st vs. winner of Series A
Series C: 2nd vs. 7th
Series D: 3rd vs. 6th
Series E: 4th vs. 5th (West Carleton Electric vs. I4C Victory)

Semi-finals (best of five):

Series F: Top seed vs. lowest seed remaining
Series G: Two remaining seeds

Finals (best of five)
