Stittsville wins one, ties one in Carp on Thursday

Stittsville 56ers defeated West Carleton Electric and tied Carp I4C Victory in a doubleheader in Carp on Thursday night.

Stittsville 8 West Carleton Electric 2

Darren Featherstone had the complete game win for Stittsville, while Bud Hanlon took the loss, getting relief from Brad Porter.

Dan Jessiman was the offensive star of the game going 4 for 4 with a homer and triple, just a double away from the cycle.

Stittsville started off the scoring in the bottom of the second going up 4-0. Dan Jessiman led off with a solo homer. Sam Oliver then reached a pop up that was a tough play. Darren Ladouceur then singled setting the table for Scott Parsons who hit a two rbi double. When Parsons scored on a subsequent single by the 56ers second baseman, Porter came in to pitch and got out of the inning.

The WC Electric has baserunners but could not get key hits to score runs, stranding two in the second, two in the third, two in the fifth and leaving the bases loaded in the fourth.

Stittsville score their fifth run in the top of the 5th. Scott Jessiman singled to lead off, was bunted over to second by Featherstone and was brought in on brother Dan's single.

The Electric got their first run in the bottom of the 6th to make the score 5-1. Jason Cope walked, moved to second on a ground out, and moved to third on an error. Cope scored on a Trevor Barton fielder's choice.

The 56ers padded their lead in the top of the 7th as Scott Herriott led off with a solo shot to centre. Once again the Jessiman connection produced as Scott hit a single and was brought in on a triple by Dan, his third RBI of the night. Sam Oliver scored the eighth run with an RBI single.

Fitzroy could only manage one run to respond in the bottom of the seventh when Shawn Rebertz hit a double, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a Beef Johnson sac fly for a 8-2 final.
