Team Easton wins the Gil Read Memorial Tournament

Beautiful weekend for ball at the Gil Read Memorial Tournament this past weekend at Carlington Park in Ottawa.

Ottawa Team Easton came away as first ever champions of the tournament, defeating Carp I4C "Pirates" in the final game 4-1. Corey Costello had the win, with relief from Dan Bradley, while Neil Cooke took the loss.

West Carleton Electric won their division and got a bye to the semi-finals. (Fitzroy and Manotick essentially combined to enter a team so as per Steve Johnson's suggestion they also were known as the "Mano-Trics" this weekend.)

Quyon Flyers won their division earning the bye to Sunday's semi-final.

In the quarter-finals it was Team Easton over Greely and Carp I4C Pirates over Kingston Kobras. Local Heroes and Ed Taylor's did not make the playoff round.

Both bye teams lost, as Team Easton mercied Quyon and the I4C Pirates defeated the "Mano-Trics" 7-2. Costello had the win for Easton and Matt Greer took the loss while Trevor Wood had the win for I4C and Brad Porter took the loss.

I hope to get a full report with scores to post on the blog - stay tuned.
