"Respect my game" from Softball Ontario

SOFTBALL ONTARIO LAUNCHES ACTIVE 2010 "RESPECT MY GAME" PROJECT TASK FORCE RECRUITMENT PROCESS

NORTH YORK, ONTARIO- Do you have a passion for the sport of softball? Are you a Player, Coach, Umpire, Scorekeeper or member of your local League Executive? Would you like to change our game for the better by helping to build mutual respect throughout all levels of our sport? Softball Ontario is looking for you! The Softball Ontario Umpires’ Program, with assistance from the Government of Ontario’s Active 2010 Program, would like to invite stakeholders in the game of softball at all levels and in all positions to join the “Respect My Game” Task Force.

The “Respect My Game” Task Force will work in conjunction with the Fast Pitch and Slo-Pitch Softball Ontario Umpires Committees to develop a new program aimed at creating abuse awareness and building mutual respect between all participants in the sport of softball. The Task Force, along with the Umpires Committees, will help to introduce policies to reduce abusive situations at all levels and in all components of the game. Focusing on increasing participation in leadership roles within our game, the Task Force will have a vital role in creating positive change within the sport of softball.

Successful volunteer applicants will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Human Resources
Financial Management
Marketing & Promotions
Legal Issues & Risk Management
Volunteer Management
Statistical Analysis
Experience in Designing, Facilitating and/or Managing Training Clinics or Courses
Strong Organizational Skills
Excellent Communication Skills, both Verbal and Written
Hands-on Experience Working in a Volunteer Based Environment
Time Management Skills

The “Respect My Game” Task Force will commence shortly after the conclusion of the Selection Process. Please note that the Respect My Game Project must be completed by March 31, 2009. The Task Force will work with Project Manager Scott Williston of Chatham, ON, who will lead the development of the innovative new program. Expenses related to the “Respect My Game” Task Force will be administered under Softball Ontario’s current policies.
