I4C Victory 10 WC Electric 2

I4C Victory prevailed with a 10-2 win at Fitzroy Harbour in a 2 hour 20 minute marathon on Tuesday night in GOFL play.

Dan Konkle had the complete game win, while Bud Hanlon took the loss with relief from Troy Wilson.

West Carleton Electric took at 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jon Daley led off with a walk and moved to second on Steve Johnson's bunt single. After a strikeout, Daley and Johnson advanced 60 feet on a wild pitch. Troy Wilson hit a single scoring Daley but Johnson was thrown out at the plate by centre fielder Eric Colvin.

Carp threatened a couple of times in the first four innings, but the score remained 1-0 'Trics thanks to some defensive gems by Fitzroy shortstop Jon Daley and a well executed double play by third baseman Neil Murphy.

I4C put four across in the fifth to take a lead. Aaron Amo walked to start the inning and was plated on a double by Kevin McGuire. McGuire took third on a pop up to shallow right. Tim Power then walked, and subsequently stole second. Shawn Simser's three run homer made the score 4-1.

Troy Wilson relieved Hanlon in the sixth, and I4C scored another three runs. McGuire doubled with one out and scored on Al Read's home run. Then Tim Power hit a solo shot to put Carp up 7-1.

The home team scored one in the bottom of the inning to prolong the game. Steve Johnson walked, moved to second on a ground out, and scored on Troy Wilson's RBI single.

I4C Victory capped the scoring in the top of the seventh, putting across three on Todd Storms pinch hit single, Aaron Amo's double followed by Kevin McGuire's three run homer.
