Da rules
Blair Setford has provided the rules for the Qualifier this weekend:
Tournament rules:
1. Rules of play will be those in the current rule book of Softball Canada with the exception of the ISC pitching rule and the ISC (ISF) eligible bat list.
2. The tournament format will be double knockout.
3. If a game cannot be completed due to weather or other factors, it will be resumed from the point of stoppage.
4. The mercy rule is 7 runs after 4.5 innings.
5. Team lineups must be completed and handed in to the game controllers prior to the start of the game. Lineup cards can be obtained from the game controllers. A game ball will be provided upon completion of your lineup card.
6. A coin toss will determine home team, which will take the 3rd base bench, unless the visiting team is already on that bench from the previous game. Coin toss will take place between 30-45 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
7. The International Tie-Breaker will apply in all games except the final game(s). The tie-breaker rule will be in effect from the start of the 8th inning and will be the batter who is scheduled to hit 9th in the inning.
8. We ask that, where possible, teams dress in contrasting colour jerseys to make the game more visually appealing for fans.
9. Protests on the interpretation of the playing rules only will be considered. A protest must be made at the time of the infraction – before the next pitch is delivered - and will be decided by the UIC.
10. No infield practice will be permitted prior to games.
11. The official schedule shall be the posted bracket board.
12. Alcoholic beverages are only permitted during designated times in the beer garden area. Teams that tail-gate may be disqualified from the tournament.
13. The "two-out catcher" rule is optional.

So the teams can`t take their dugouts until after the coin flip? That makes sense.
In all my years involved in ball with ISC games this has never been a problem. Coaches are usually there well before the game in time to do the flip and then benches are assigned based on the result of the flip. This isn't something new it's been a part of ISC pre-tournament rules for years.

I like that the 2 out catcher's rule is optional. It keeps my stolen base possibility open with 2 outs.
Joe
Joe, the two-out rule is optional in the GOFL also.... better buy a pair of baserunning gloves.
