Carp wins game 1 over Manotick

txt msg update from Tony Riches, info from Eric Rosenquist

Carp I4C Victory edged Manotick 1-0 in game one of their quarterfinal series on Wednesday night.

Carp jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and then made it stand up with good pitching and good defence. Neil Cooke started but came out of the game after 3 1/3 when he took a line-drive off his right foot. Dan Konkle came in with 1 out and runners on 1st & 3rd, and struck out the next 2 Manotick hitters. Konks did not allow a baserunner over 3 2/3 innings of relief.

Paul Ceppi threw well in a losing effort for Manotick, giving up just a handful of hits and getting a ton of outs via the ground ball.

Both teams had excellent pitching and fielding on the night.
