OASA BACKS SELECTS BID
The Owen Sound Volkswagen Selects are now back on track to play host to the Canadian Junior Men's Fastball Championship for a third straight August.
The local fastball group received an e-mail from the Ontario Amateur Softball Association Monday indicating that the OASA is endorsing the Selects' bid for the 2010 tournament.
The Selects had received the OASA's support earlier this month but the association then backtracked and opted to withdraw its support in hope that another Ontario bid would step forward.
The Selects bid will now be forwarded to Softball Canada and a decision on who will play host to the junior tournament should be made by year's end.
The OASA also awarded the Selects the 2010 midget elimination tournament, which will run in July at Duncan McLellan Park.
