Blitz win fin game of 2011 over Stittsville 4-2

In GOFL action on Wednesday night in Manotick, the Ottawa Blitz won 4-2 over the Stittsville 56ers in what is the final game of the regular season for both clubs.
Jamie Blakely and Darren Featherstone started for their respective teams and Shannon Borho came in for relief for the Blitz in the top of the 6th with 1 run in, men on 1st and 3rd with none out.
Blitz scoring came in the bottom of 4 with Tony Searle on base with a double and was brought in on a FC by Borho. 1-0 Blitz.
Bottom of 5, Blitz added another run when Russ Mitchel started the inning with a triple and was brought in by a double on the next at bat by Marcel Mondoux. 2-0 Blitz.
Top 6, Stittsville answered back by Ben Gigliotti starting the inning with a single, substitution brought in Scott Jessiman for an RBI single and single for Dan Bradley. Pitching change for the Blitz saw Borho come in for Blakely. Darren Ladouceur drove a one hop line drive off the chest of the Blitz second baseman to score Jessiman. Kyle Jamieson (subbed in, in the 4th) followed with a walk to load the bases. A line drive to the second baseman was caught and quickly doubled off the runner on 1st. Borho was then able to retire the next batter on a shallow fly ball to right, caught by second baseman, Andrew Bruce. 2-2.
Bottom 6 saw Borho come up with 1 out and reached second base on an infield error and was drove in by Ron Hrycak which ended up being a very close play at the plate as the throw was darted in by left fielder Ryan Bond. After an out, Russ Mitchel grounded into a close DP ball which ended up resulting in a FC which then scored Hrycak who was on third. Blitz 4-2.
Borho finished the game with 2 k's, a single to Gigliotti and a F8 to Hrycak for the ball game and the win. Blitz 4-2.
The Blitz finish the season 7-9-2 and currently sit in fourth place. Stittsville ends the season at 5-12-1 and finish seventh.
