Quyon defeats Carp 9-0 on Tuesday - UPDATED

info from Moe Laframboise

The Quyon Combat Flyers remained undefeated with a 9-0 win over Carp I4C Victory at the Carp Fairgrounds on Tuesday night's GOFL game in five innings.

Joran Graham had the win for the Flyers, allowing only one hit, while Bill Gerber took the loss for Carp.

Matt Greer led off the game with a walk. With none out Quyon executed the hit-and-run with Shawn Laframboise placing a grounder between 3rd base and short stop, moving Greer from 1st to 3rd. As the left fielder hesitated to get the ball in, Laframboise took second base and Greer subsequently advance to home. Graham worked efficiently in the bottom half (and throughout the entire game really) striking out a pair along with a Kevin McGuire groundout to end the inning on only 8 pitches.

The Flyers would tack on one more in the 2nd inning by way of a Luke Young solo homerun to right field. Graham continued his strong outing in the bottom half with a pop out and another two strikeouts on just 9 pitches.

The score remained 2-0 until the 4th when Quyon plated 7 more to put the game out of reach. Tim Craig led off the inning with a single. After swiping 2nd base, Luke Young reached on an error charged to the Carp 2nd baseman. A Troy Cote sac bunt advanced the runners 60 feet. After striking out the next batter, Carp pitcher Bill Gerber got Greer to hit a grounder to 3rd base, however the errant throw allowed the inning to continue. After back-to-back singles from Laframboise and McCleary, both Graham and Nick Armitage drew walks. Craig and Young followed that up with singles before Gerber got out of the inning with a strikeout.

In the bottom half of the 5th, Al Read led off with a single to rightfield, breaking up the perfect game for Graham. After a one out walk to Brooks Paziuk, Graham was able to retire Medaglia and Chatten to get out of the jam and seal the victory for the Flyers.
