Micksburg beats Quyon 3-0 with details

from Moe Laframboise

The Micksburg Twins beat the Quyon Flyers 3-0 to extend their record to 7-1 Wednesday night. Corey Costello had the complete game win for the Twins, throwing a 2-hitter, while Matt Greer took the loss going the distance for the Flyers.

The game remained scoreless until the 3rd. Chad Costello and Kerr Childerhose started things off with back-to-back singles. Corey Costello drove in the first run with an RBI single to right field off the end of the bat. Greer got out of the jam without further damage with a strikeout and a groundout.

Micksburg added two more runs in the top of the 5th (it was a Quyon home game). Chad Costello walked and scored on a two-run homer off the bat of Corey. After back-to-back singles, Greer induced a ground ball from Ryan Clarke and the Flyers were able to get out of a jam with a double play.

Nick Armitage would break up the no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the 5th but was left stranded. Other than a Dennis McCleary single in the 6th, the Flyers couldn’t muster up much offense and the game ended 3-0.
