Kars and Stittsville tie in another close game (Weds night)
from Chad Milne, Cory Morrison
Kars Aces 1 Stittsville 56ers 1
The Aces and 56ers had another classic in the Grove on Wednesday night, with this one ending in a 1-1 tie.
Cory Alkerton threw a three-hitter allowing only one walk for Kars, while Darren Featherstone of Stittsville also threw a three-hitter, walking two.
Kars got their only run of the game in 4th. Cory Alkerton drew a lead off walk. Chad Milne missed in his first two attempts to bunt Alkerton into scoring position, and then with the count 2-2, ripped a line drive into the left field corner for a stand-up RBI triple. Featherstone was able to get the next two Kars batters. Then with Matt Pollard at the plate, Milne attempted to score on a passed ball, but Scott Jessiman got a nice bounce off the backstop and made a good play to Featherstone, who tagged a sliding Milne out at the plate to end the inning.
After having blown late leads in each of their previous two meetings with Kars, Stittsville looked to turn the tables on their GOFL rivals. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 7th, John Craig walked with two out. Craig took second on a passed ball and scored when Tyler Nystedt's fly ball to left fell in to tie the game at one, which is how it ended.

For their equally strong games pitching, Alkerton and Featherstone share the player of the game honours as Caveman's Choice.
