Micksburg wins 7-0 at Harbour Days game - WITH DETAILS
The Micksburg Twins won 7-0 at the annual Harbour Days game on Thursday night in Fitzroy Harbour.
Joran Graham had the win, allowing only two hits. Steve Cavanagh was the losing pitcher.
Micksburg scored early, marking two in the first. Jamey Mick doubled with one out and scored on Joran Graham's two run homer.
West Carleton Electric had the bases loaded in the bottom of the second after a Derek Barber double and two walks, but Graham shut the door with a strikeout.
A solo home run by Riley Hennessey in the third made it 3-0.
The lead was pushed to 4-0 in the fourth. Kyle Jackson led off with a walk, was moved to second on sac bunt, and scored a single by Mick.
The Twins pushed three across in the seventh. Corey Costello, second baseman for the night, led off with a solo homer. Jackson and Mike Moss also had RBIs in the inning.
The game was played in front of a good crowd, many of whom were minor ball players that participated in the skills clinic prior to the GOFL game. A sincere thanks to the lads from Micksburg that came down an hour early to help out with the clinic, and thanks as well to Derek Barber of WC Electric for putting his teacher's college credentials to good use in leading the event.
The Caveman and Fitzroy Junior enjoyed themselves thoroughly at the clinic. The Caveman was a bit curious as to why so many of the ball players on hand from Micksburg knew his nickname.
Joran Graham gets the Caveman's Choice as Player of the Game for his shutout win and two run homer, as well as for his leading of the batting station at the Kids' Clinic. (Let's hope the Caveman himself was paying attention.)
