Stittsville downs Quyon 9-5 in make up game - DETAILS

from Moe Laframboise

Stittsville 9 Quyon 5
The Stittsville 56ers earned their 5th win of the year on Tuesday night with a victory over the visiting Quyon Flyers.  Darren Featherstone earned the win for the 56ers, with relief from Adam Smith.  Matt Greer took the loss for the Flyers.

Stittsville opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second, jumping out to a 5-0 lead.  With one out, Trevor Scott reached on an error to the 3rd baseman, followed up by singles to both Smith and Darren Ladouceur (which scored Scott).  After a strikeout, Featherstone cashed in the 2nd run of the inning with a single of his own.  Ryan Bond made it 3-0 with a grounder that was misplayed by the Quyon shortstop.  Dan Jessiman followed that up with a double over the centre fielders' head, scoring two more.

Quyon got on the board with two in the top of the 4th.  Dave Hobbs led off with a triple to left-centre and scored on a RBI single from Curtis Daley.  Daley was subsequently caught trying to swipe 2nd on the next pitch.  Jordan Kearns then singled and scored on a Dennis McCleary RBI single.  Down 5-2, with two on and two out, Moe Laframboise hit one to deep centre, but Smith was able to track it to the fence and reach over and bring it back, leaving the score at 5-2.

Stittsville added 3 more to their lead in the bottom of the 5th.  Jessiman walked and scored on a double from brother Scott. Dan Bradley reached drew a walk to put two on and no out.  Greer was able to retire the next two batters, but Ladouceur reached on an error to the Quyon third baseman scoring Scott Jessiman.  Ladouceur would then score on a wild throw from the outfield to make it 8-2.

Quyon narrowed the deficit to 8-4 in the top of the 6th.  Kearns led off with a single and advanced to 3rd on a Steve McCord single.  With one out, Kearns scored on a Laframboise RBI single to left field which also advanced McCord to 3rd. McCord would then score on a Joe McCleary ground out.

The 56ers added one more in the 6th.  Bond led off with a single and advanced to 2nd on a Dan Jessiman single.  Scott Jessiman then grounded into a fielders choice to put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out.  Bond would then score on another fielders choice to make the score 9-4.

The Flyers scored one in the top of 7 to make the score 9-5, but that's as close as it would get.  Hobbs led off with a single, his 3rd hit of the game, and later scored on a McCord RBI single.
