Stittsville beats Carp 8-2
info from Johnny Craig
Stittsville defeated Carp I4C Victory 8-2 to even their best-of-five series at one game each in GOFL Playoffs at the Grove on Wednesday night.
Dan Konkle had the win, with relief from Darren Featherstone. Cody Price took the loss and had relief from Neil Cooke.
Stittsville was a little shaky in the top of the first as Carp
loaded the bases but they got out of the inning unscathed. In the bottom
half a couple of walks to John Craig and Scott Herriot would later score on
Scott Jessiman’s single putting the 56ers up 2-0.
Stittsville put a few more on in the third on an Adam Smith
single and another walk to Herriot followed by S. Jessiman ripping a triple to the
fence cashing in two. He would then score on a double by Dan Konkle
putting the 6ers up 5-0.
In the top of the 5th, Carp pushed two across the
plate on singles to J. Murray, Shaun Simzer, a walk to Eric Colvin and a single
to Dan Loney. With two on this may have brought about the TSN turning
point when Kevin McGuire hit a deep fly ball to right field, Darren Ladouceur
turned at the last minute and made an over the shoulder basket catch at the
fence on the run ending the inning and saving two runs. Score, Stittsville leading 5-2.
In the bottom half Stittsville would keep pressing: walks to
Smith and Dan Jessiman, and singles to S. Jessiman, Darren Featherstone, and
Darren Ladouceur would put 3 more runs on the board, making the final score 8-2.
