GOFL Week #11
Week eleven of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League is shaping up to be a very busy one, ending off with the Gil Read Memorial Tournament in Carp from Friday to Sunday in which several GOFL teams and players will be involved.
Tuesday night sees the Kars Aces (5-7) in to face West Carleton Electric (6-7) in Fitzroy Harbour at 8:30 pm. The game will be preceded by a Squirt Boys Select game between Rideau-Osgoode and West Carleton.
On Wednesday, Quyon Flyers (7-5-1) travel to Micksburg to face the Twins (6-7-1) at 8:30 pm in what was scheduled to be another Cogeco TV game. Manotick will be the site of three games, with a couple of previously postponed matches being made up. At 7 pm, the Kanata Pirates (8-4-1) play I4C Victory (4-9) while on the other diamond at the same time, Stittsville 56ers (7-4-3) play Kars. This will be followed by an I4C Victory - Kars Aces match up at 9 pm.
Then the week concludes on Thursday with Quyon Flyers in Carp for a true doubleheader against Kanata Pirates at 7 pm and 9 pm, with one of the games a make up from earlier in the season.
Following the week's game, local fastball players and fans will converge on Carp for the 7th Annual Gil Read Memorial tournament, which features ten teams playing Friday to Sunday. GOFL teams entered include Micksburg Twins, West Carleton Electric, Kanata Pirates, Stittsville 56ers, as well Ottawa Broker4Tickets which has several GOFLers on the roster. Other teams involved are Ottawa Valley A's (with several players from the Fitzroy Harbour League), Trend-Arlington, Napanee Juniors, Domville Juniors and Elkland Thunderbellys.
