Lyn Lightning win Bantam Select OASA Provincial Championship

Held at Goulding Park, North York ON, August 9th, 2014

Game 1 vs Georgian Bay

Game was tied 5-5 at the bottom of the 4th inning when caption Thomas Smith made a beautiful double play that ended the inning. The team then gaining 6 more runs in the 5th inning which included a homerun by Jack Wilson with bases loaded, an RBI from Thomas and double plays throughout the game by Connor and Chase giving the Lightning a 13-5 win over Georgian Bay.

Game 2 vs Ramara

The team was up 4-0 in the first inning adding 9 run’s in the 2nd, including a grand slam from Ethan Jackson with bases loaded. RBI’s by Jacob and Chris giving the team a 13-5 win.

Game 3 vs Lake Simcoe

The Lightning took off strong with 2 RBI‘s from Chase, Preston and Austin who also had a beautiful homerun in the 3rd inning, ending the game in mercy of 15-0.

Game 4 vs Smiths Falls (Semi-Finals)

Lyn took the lead in the 2nd inning scoring runs from Chris, Jack and an RBI from Austin, scoring 3 more runs by the 6th inning. The team ended the game with an amazing sliding catch in left field by Preston Leeder followed by 2 strike outs from pitcher Michael Shane to win the game 6-1.

Game 5 vs Georgian Bay (Championship Game)

The team started strong with 4 runs in the 1st inning followed by 3 strikeouts by Michael. A nice double from Dustin Brown in the 2nd and 6 runs later in the game gave the Lightning a 10-3 win for the gold.

Pitcher Michael Shane was awarded the tournament MVP for the Lightning team with a total of 15 strikeouts during the day.

Lyn Lightning finished the day with 56 runs for and only 14 against!
