West Carleton Electric and I4C Victory split doubleheader

West Carleton Electric and I4C Victory split a doubleheader in Greater Ottawa Fastball League action on Tuesday night in Fitzroy Harbour.

In the opener, WC Electric won 6-3, with Steve Cavanagh picking up the win and Neil Cooke taking the loss.

Andy Barber had a solo homer for WC in the first. The home scored three in the fourth after a series of errors. Jeff Cavanagh doubled and scored on another error in the fifth. JCav had an RBI in the sixth, scoring Mike Cavanagh who had singled.

Joe Allan scored in the first. He had reached on a single and eventually scored when WC elected to throw out a runner stealing second when Allan was on third base. Ryan Clare had a two RBI home run in the fifth for I4C.

Cooke allowed seven hits, walking two and striking out four. SCav gave up six hits, walked one and struck out nine.

I4C Victory 21 West Carleton 15
The second game was a wild affair, with I4C Victory wining it 21-15 just as the lights went off in the sixth. Shane McNish earned the win, with relief from Neil Cooke. Jeff Barber took the loss in relief of Steve Cavanagh, who also relieved Barber later in the game.

I4C ensured the win by scoring 11 runs in the top of the sixth.

Kevin McGuire was 4 for 5, with a walk, five runs scored, three home runs and six RBIs for I4C. Curtis Scurr and Ty McNish also had home runs for the visitors.

Derek Barber had a grand slam for Fitzroy.
